Nexus 6P now getting the v8.1 Oreo update

Image
The Huawei Nexus 6P is over two years now but it keeps chugging along – it is now receiving the Android 8.1 Oreo update on the same day as the Pixel 2 phones. It’s a 534MB update, so you may want to buckle up. We have confirmation that the rollout has reached India, the most impatient may download it manually.   Version 8.1 brings along memory optimizations, enhancements to autofill, a battery indicator for Bluetooth devices and more. It also enables the Visual Core imaging chip on the new Pixels, but of course that’s not available on this old fella. Android Oreo

Battery that charges five times faster

Image
Scientists have developed a new graphene-based battery material with charging speed five times faster than today’s lithium-ion batteries. The breakthrough by researchers at the Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology (SAIT) in South Korea provides promise for the next generation mobile batteries and electric vehicles. Standard lithium batteries require charging time of at least an hour to fully charge, even with quick charging technology, so numerous attempts to explore new innovative materials have been started. Among the materials looked at, graphene, a material with high strength and conductivity, has widely become the primary source of interest. In theory, a battery based on the “graphene ball” material requires only 12 minutes to fully charge, researchers said. This “graphene ball” was utilized for both the anode protective layer and cathode materials. This ensured an increase of charging capacity, decrease of charging time as well as stable temperatures. [RUMOR ]'Made in India' iPhone SE 2 to Launch in Early 2018

Image
Apple  at its earnings call earlier this month revealed that the iPhone SE had a big hand in the double digit growth in iPhone sales in India this last quarter. Now, a fresh report claims Apple is preparing to launch the iPhone SE's successor in early 2018. The new model, said to be called the iPhone SE 2, will reportedly be manufactured by Taiwanese original design manufacturer (ODM) Wistron at its Bengaluru factory that already produces the original iPhone SE. original iPhone se As per a fresh supply-chain report by Taiwan's Economic Daily News, Apple  will launch  the iPhone SE 2 in the first quarter of next year. The reported launch schedule appears to be in line with the original iPhone SE that was debuted in March last year. Further, the new low-end iPhone model is reportedly already in the initial stages of production at Wistron's facility in Bengaluru. The facility was established for assembling iPhone SE models earlier this year, allowing Apple to enjoy r

Sharp announces phone with 120hz screen

Image
Sharp has announced the Aquos R Compact, a smaller model in its Aquos R range of smartphones. Unlike the others in the series, the Aquos R Compact has a different, more of an edge-to-edge display design similar to the company's previous smartphones. The Aquos R Compact has a 4.9-inch, 2032x1080 resolution IGZO LCD. Apart from the fact that it goes right up to the edges on the top, has curved corners and notch in the center for the front camera, the display has 120Hz refresh rate that is twice as fast as almost every other smartphone display. The phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. It also has a 16.4 megapixel camera on the back and an 8 megapixel camera on the front. The software is Android 8.0 Oreo with EMOPA 7.0. Running the whole thing is a 2500mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0. The Aquos R Compact will be available in December.  The phone will only be available in Japan. Source

HTC U11 Plus renders

Image
The HTC U11 Plus leaks are piling on – after benchmarks revealed its innards, time to gaze at the phone’s exterior. Technical details put the phone at 158.2 x 74.6 x 9.1mm in size. That would make it noticeably taller than, say, an LG V30 – another phone with a 6” 18:9 screen. Thicker too, though  @LlabTooFeR  suggests that the U11 Plus will have a batter capacity around 4,000mAh. If that is the case, we’d be quite happy with a 9.1mm phone. And, the regular U11 is 153.9mm tall already so this isn't that much of an increase for the extra screen. The fingerprint reader had to be moved to the back, however, to free up some space (and you won't hear us complain about this either).  The renders definitely show ample bezels on the front – and stereo speakers. With that in mind, the height of the phone makes sense, it’s as tall as the Pixel 2 XL (which is based on the V30, but it has stereo speakers as well). The HTC U11 Plus will likely be unveiled on November 2.

LG wallpaper TV

HIGHS Best picture quality available All HDR formats supported Stunning, sleek design Solid sound quality LOWS Sound Bar Required wallpaper-thin W series of 4K OLED TVs wowed us at CES with their almost impossibly slim design. And while the “cheaper” — to say that this is a relative term is a bit of an understatement — $7,999 65-inch model has been available for a while, if you’ve been holding out for the flagship 77-inch model, then I’ve got good news: it can finally be yours for the low, low price of $19,999. The W series uses a bit of trickery for pulling off its 0.2-inch thick design: the guts of the TV, including HDMI inputs and general hardware, are stowed away inside an attached Dolby Atmos soundbar below the TV. For what it’s worth (design aside), you’re still getting a fantastic TV. The W series supports all four main HDR standards (HDR10, Dolby Vision, HLG, and Advanced HDR by Technicolor), offers full 4K resolution, and runs LG’s pretty good W

Iphone 8 in Red glimpse

All  iPhone 8  rumors so far have shown off the color scheme trinity – White, Black and Gold - but now a new video shows a unit painted in a bold red color. This won’t be the first red iPhone but it will be the first time Apple offers a red unit from the get go. This video was sent to us by a tipster who says it was shot Guangzhou in what appears to be a showroom (or perhaps a QA facility). Interestingly, the iPhone 8 appears more burgundy and the iPhone 7 (7s?) behind it is a brighter red. And the gold color continues to not look like the precious metal, but closer to bronze Apple gives the impression that colors are for the mass market devices – be it iPhone 5c or a late generation iPod Touch. But will iPhone’s anniversary be a colorful one?
