Sharp announces phone with 120hz screen

Image
Sharp has announced the Aquos R Compact, a smaller model in its Aquos R range of smartphones. Unlike the others in the series, the Aquos R Compact has a different, more of an edge-to-edge display design similar to the company's previous smartphones. The Aquos R Compact has a 4.9-inch, 2032x1080 resolution IGZO LCD. Apart from the fact that it goes right up to the edges on the top, has curved corners and notch in the center for the front camera, the display has 120Hz refresh rate that is twice as fast as almost every other smartphone display. The phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. It also has a 16.4 megapixel camera on the back and an 8 megapixel camera on the front. The software is Android 8.0 Oreo with EMOPA 7.0. Running the whole thing is a 2500mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0. The Aquos R Compact will be available in December.  The phone will only be available in Japan. Source

HTC U11 Plus renders

Image
The HTC U11 Plus leaks are piling on – after benchmarks revealed its innards, time to gaze at the phone’s exterior. Technical details put the phone at 158.2 x 74.6 x 9.1mm in size. That would make it noticeably taller than, say, an LG V30 – another phone with a 6” 18:9 screen. Thicker too, though  @LlabTooFeR  suggests that the U11 Plus will have a batter capacity around 4,000mAh. If that is the case, we’d be quite happy with a 9.1mm phone. And, the regular U11 is 153.9mm tall already so this isn't that much of an increase for the extra screen. The fingerprint reader had to be moved to the back, however, to free up some space (and you won't hear us complain about this either).  The renders definitely show ample bezels on the front – and stereo speakers. With that in mind, the height of the phone makes sense, it’s as tall as the Pixel 2 XL (which is based on the V30, but it has stereo speakers as well). The HTC U11 Plus will likely be unveiled on November 2.

Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+: What's the story till now? [update]

Image
The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ only hit shelves a few months ago but that doesn't stop speculation for their successors. As is always the way, as soon as one great device appears, there are always those wanting more. Here are all the rumours relating to what is assumed will be called the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ when they launch, though apparently codenamed "Star" for now.  Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+:  Release date Not expected until March or April 2018 The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ were officially announced on 29 March, with general availability starting on 28 April so we aren't expecting to see the S9 and S9+ before March or April 2018. Sammobile has reported that there will be two models again this year and their model numbers are known as SM-G960 for the S9 and SM-G965 for the S9+. LG wallpaper TV

HIGHS Best picture quality available All HDR formats supported Stunning, sleek design Solid sound quality LOWS Sound Bar Required wallpaper-thin W series of 4K OLED TVs wowed us at CES with their almost impossibly slim design. And while the “cheaper” — to say that this is a relative term is a bit of an understatement — $7,999 65-inch model has been available for a while, if you’ve been holding out for the flagship 77-inch model, then I’ve got good news: it can finally be yours for the low, low price of $19,999. The W series uses a bit of trickery for pulling off its 0.2-inch thick design: the guts of the TV, including HDMI inputs and general hardware, are stowed away inside an attached Dolby Atmos soundbar below the TV. For what it’s worth (design aside), you’re still getting a fantastic TV. The W series supports all four main HDR standards (HDR10, Dolby Vision, HLG, and Advanced HDR by Technicolor), offers full 4K resolution, and runs LG’s pretty good W
